Our Human Resources Division is currently seeking a Labor Relations Specialist to support the CalPERS Employee Relations Unit. Under the direction of a Labor Relations Manager I, a successful candidate would have knowledge about various facets of the State’s human resources practices, or experience in a similar level of complexity, ideally with experience in labor relations. The Employee Relations Unit provides consultation and assistance to team leaders across the organization regarding sensitive and confidential employer/employee relation matters.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide guidance and assistance to team leaders on administration and compliance with the various bargaining unit contracts
- Provide consultation to team leaders on contract administration, grievance handling, and to identify issues subject to organizational needs that are appropriate for contract negotiations
- Makes recommendations to Leadership on departmental collective bargaining priorities
- Represent CalPERS in contract negotiations and meet-and-confer sessions
- Respond to union allegations and charges such as unfair labor practices
- Meet with union representatives to resolve team member grievances in a manner that maintains harmonious labor relations
- Develop and deliver labor relations and contract administration training for all team leaders
