Under the general supervision of the Section Chair, Residency Program Director, attending dentists and Clinic Supervisor, perform dental assisting and administrative functions for the Endodontics predoctoral and postdoctoral clinics. Responsibilities include chairside assisting faculty, residents, and dental students. When not assisting, responsibilities include: sterilization duties including washing dental instruments and equipment; scheduling appointments; responding to telephone inquiries; resolving patient complaints and conflicts; ensure proper billing of endodontic procedures; process all patient billing, including private insurance and Medicare; and follow up on outstanding charges and preparing reports of same.

Required/Preferred
Working knowledge of current dental terminology, materials, equipment and procedures related to dentistry so as to respond to student, patient and faculty requests.

Working knowledge of principles of asepsis, sterilization procedures and infection control.

Working knowledge of four-handed dentistry.
Required
Ability to work with infectious disease patients.
Required
Working knowledge of University policies and procedures regarding patient care.
Preferred
Ability to organize and maintain an inventory of dental instruments equipment and supplies in the dental operatory.

Physical ability to, push/pull carts, handle surgical equipment carefully and safely, and stand for long periods of time.

Possession of current California State certification as Dental Assistant, Radiology licensure and CPR certificate.

Experience with working in a dental or medical office.
