The primary role of the Security Unit is to install, maintain, monitor alarm and CCTV systems, as well as respond to security related issues at the Department's schools and other premises. Incident Response Officers will also receive and process incident reports from school leaders in a timely, efficient and empathetic manner. The incident details will be recorded in the Department's database and communicated to schools, regional and corporate personnel. The role will be required to work shift work in the 24/7 control room. 3 Casual positions available.

The primary role of the Security Unit is to install, maintain, monitor alarm and CCTV systems, as well as respond to security related issues at the Department's schools and other premises. The role will:


  • liaise with police, security service providers and school leaders over alarm activations

  • liaise and provide support with alarm system technicians working on sites

  • liaise with other emergency services in relation to emergencies at schools

  • interpret alarm activations and exercise judgement in dispatching security service providers and/or police

Incident Response Officers will also receive and process incident reports from school leaders in a timely, efficient and empathetic manner. The incident details will be recorded in the Department's database and communicated to schools, regional and corporate personnel.

The Security and Emergency Management Division delivers this vision by managing risks and incidents that may impact the health and wellbeing of children and young people, or that may impact school operations or educational services delivery.

The Division supports the education sector to be prepared; to respond quickly and effectively when incidents occur; and to provide appropriate and proportionate recovery supports after events.

The primary role of the Security Unit is to install, maintain, monitor alarm and CCTV systems, as well as respond to security related issues at the Department's schools and other premises.

The role will be required to work shift work in the 24/7 control room.
