Job Description


The Underground Mine Technician will provide general support to the geological technical services department at the Waihi Underground Operation. Suitable physical fitness is a key requirement of the position. Basic computer competency and aptitude with Microsoft office suite.

  • Comply with all site safe work practices and instructions.
  • Sample and photograph core at the underground and surface core logging facilities.
  • Assist geologists with underground mapping and general ore control duties.
  • Sample collection, collation and transportation.
  • Despatch of samples to the analytical laboratory.
  • Carry out sample storage activities.
  • Photograph underground development and assist with creating 3D scans of the underground workings.
  • Monitor stocks of consumables associated with underground ore control activities.
  • Provide care and maintenance of vehicles and equipment used in duties.
  • Assist Geotechnical department with pull testing, MBPX and seismic monitoring, and other tasks as required.
  • Assist Survey department with CALS operation and other tasks as required.
  • Assist Engineering department with underground tasks as required.

Qualifications
  • Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred
  • Previous experience working in mining operations preferred.
  • An understanding of geological processes preferred.
