The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.

In our constant effort to improve the quality and fairness of our educational large-scale assessments, the Luxembourg Centre for Educational Testing (LUCET) is looking for a Research and Development Specialist who shares our passion for merging the latest technology with the newest developments in psychological assessment.
Your Role...
The successful candidate will specialize in and help with the application of psychometric data analytic approaches (e.g. IRT, diagnostic classification models) to a large-scale mathematics assessment. He/ she will be an integral part of a team and help with data management, data analysis, and support scientific publications. Depending on the candidate’s background and interest, the focus may/ can shift. The position is integrated in a highly motivated team that is guided by local and international experts and ideal to gather first experiences in academia.
Your Activities
The following general research tasks are included in the responsibilities of the position:
- Data management and data analysis
- Contribute to and support the conceptual development of diagnostic data analytic approaches
- Contribute to and support the development of empirically grounded and didactically useful feedback protocols
- Apply new and innovative data-analytic strategies bridging the gap between cognitive psychology and psychological assessment
- Contribute to and support (co-)authored peer-reviewed scientific publications and present research outcomes at international conferences
- Perform any other tasks within the framework of the position
What we expect from you…
- Excellent master’s degree (or equivalent) in psychology, or educational science (preferably related to one of the following areas: cognitive psychology, psychological assessment) OR master’s degree in data science with first experience of/ interest in educational assessment data
- Passion for psychological and educational assessment and ability to find creative solutions to complex problems
- Proven experience with statistical software (R will be considered an advantage)
- Good knowledge of or high interest in quantitative research methods and data analysis
- Experience in implementing empirical studies
- Very good oral and written competences in English (Luxembourgish, German, or French will be considered an advantage)
- Proactive personality who is able to structure and prioritize the workload
- Ability to quickly fit into a dynamic, multidisciplinary and multicultural team
